Horse riding routes in Caithness
The local riders access group was formed in July 2002 to address the problem of lack of off road riding in the County and to lobby the Council and other organisations to provide a network of bridlepaths in the far north of Scotland.
These are the links to existing rides as at 01-06-03 and are updated as the group identifies more routes which are available for public use:
Auckengill - Keiss - routes in this area are currently under development - contact Janine Wilbraham for the latest details. There are two sections which will be opened up after work is completed, hopefully around May 2003.

Dunnet Riders meet every 6 weeks at the Dunnet Head tearooms. As at 21st May, they had had two meetings and excellent progress is being made. The next meeting is 27th June at 7.30pm and thereafter on 8th August at 7.30pm. The meeting on 27th June will focus on Dunnet Forest. Please register your interest by email, as I may need to book a bigger room! Email Tina for further details.
There is more information about the work of the group at http://www.caithness.org/horses/access/index.htm
There is currently a consultative document being distributed by the SNH - the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. It is very important that all countryside users, especially riders, and landowners input to the document before 30th June. It can be downloaded from http://www.snh.org.uk
