WALKING WEEKS

Saturday - arrival, possible transport from airport or railway station on Saturday morning.

Sunday - Scaraben at 2055ft - an excellent introduction to walking in the region.

Monday - Ben Loyal at Corbett at 2509ft.  Its isolated position and impressive profile has earned this mountain "Queen of the Scottish Peaks".

Tuesday - A coastal walk around Dunnet Head.  Puffins and other seabirds seen at close  range.  Impressive sea cliffs all round.

Wednesday - Day off to see the area at ones leisure.

Thursday - Ben Hope at 3040ft Scotland's most northerly Munro - the name hope is derived from the Norse word 'hop' meaning bay.

Friday - Morvan at 2313ft is the highest mountain in Caithness.

Saturday - Departure.

Optional lower walks may be made dependant on the weather such as Bein Graiam Beigg, the highest hill fort in Scotland, or a moorland walk using the train station at Altnabreach.  Ben Kilbreck, another Munro, is also a possibility or some more coastal walking.  The leader will decide if any change to the itinerary is made dependant on safety considerations.
