Archaeology across the Firth!

Archaeology knows no bounds and our Hands Across the Firth tour just proves that! You can spend a few days touring the archaeological hotspots in Caithness, before taking off for Orkney and visiting the fantastic archaeology they have there. The plans of Dunnet Head and Burifa Hill are at the Scapa Flow Museum in Lyness along with a complete archive of information and materials.

Enjoy a tour to Orkney to the Scapa Flow Visitor centre during Scottish Archaeology Month where you can view the plans of the radar station at Dunnet Head and the Gee station at Burifa Hill and you will also be able to access the archive they have there. The book "Corners of Caithness - Dunnet" is available by visiting our shop. There is even a DVD of Dunnet Head you can buy!

We can even provide you with free a soft copy of the book WWII Military Sites in Caithness - normal price £3.00 for the duration of the event and a walking tour guide on Burifa Hill and other great walks.

Whether you want to go for the day as a foot passenger or take your car, you can book your ferry here:

Once you have booked, you can send us your reference number and we can provide the information of how to get to the

You can even hire a bicycle in Stromness and cycle to Houston and get on the ferry to Hoy. Again, we can provide the information once you have booked.
